Dangar machined this turbine wheel from astraloy billet for the "Star Wars" Airborne Laser (ABL) program. The turbine wheel is part of the gas pump which powers the powerful Chemical Oxygen Iodine Laser (COIL) built by TRW. The plane is a Boeing 747-400F equipped with the laser and sophisticated electronics for target acquisition and beam control to destroy ballistic missiles in flight.
